Dariusz Sicinski is waiting to be sentenced

A man caused a 16-year-old girl "fear and distress" by repeatedly approaching her at a bus stop and asking her to kiss him.

Dariusz Sicinski admitted stalking causing serious alarm and distress at Swindon Magistrates' Court on 1 April.

In his police interview, he told officers: "When I went past [the Wiltshire bus stop], I saw her face, her hair and her body shape and I wanted to talk to her and meet her."

The 33-year-old, of Robertson Road in Cheltenham, was bailed ahead of sentencing on 6 May.

The teenager contacted police in October to say that a man had been repeatedly approaching her at a bus stop on her way to college.

She said she asked him to leave her alone and told him she was only 16 – but the man persisted and would bring her gifts and ask her for a kiss.

Following the girl's report, police waited in unmarked vehicles near the bus stop one morning.

Sicinski arrived in a van and began to approach the girl, at which point officers were able to arrest him.

Det Con Niall Maidment from Wiltshire Police praised the girl for her "courage" in reporting the incidents, which led to Sicinski being "caught red-handed".

He said: "This was an escalating case of stalking involving a 16-year-old girl who was repeatedly targeted as she tried to catch the bus to college, causing her significant fear and distress."
