Two men have been arrested after a baby girl was seriously injured when a van struck three stationary vehicles on a motorway slip road before the driver and passenger fled the scene.

Their white Ford Transit van hit two cars and a HGV, at Junction 29 off the M6 northbound, at Bamber Bridge near Preston, at about 16:25 GMT on Friday, police said.

The baby, who was in one of the cars, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A 39-year-old man, from Preston, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in custody. A 42-year-old man from Blackburn, arrested over the same offence, has been bailed.
