Juma Ahmadi, 46, has been jailed for 25 years

A man who raped and sexually assaulted a woman and a teenage girl has been jailed for 25 years.

Juma Ahmadi's abuse came to light after the teenager confided in a hospital doctor, who called 999, police said.

The woman, in her 40s, came forwards as officers began their investigation and reported she had been raped by the 46-year-old Birmingham man "a number of times".

Det Con Charlie Smith from West Midland's Police's Child Public Protection Unit praised the victims' courage and said Ahmadi was a "dangerous man who will now spend a long time behind bars".

Police said the teenage girl first spoke to police in July last year, who told them Ahmadi had wanted to give her money to buy things and had sexually abused her over a three-year period.

After he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and rape, the second victim reported her own assaults to officers.

Smith said Ahmadi had put his victims through a trial "rather than admitting his actions".

"We hope this sends a clear message that people who behave in this appalling way will be caught and will spend many years in prison," he added.

Ahmadi was charged with five counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one of sexual activity, and jailed at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 15 April following a trial.

He was also handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, police said.
