County unites to tackle violence against women
Northamptonshire OPFCCForty-two organisations across Northamptonshire have signed a pledge to prevent violence against women and girls.
Businesses, councils and Northampton Town Football Club have agreed to support the Northamptonshire Women's Charter (NWC) by listening to concerns raised by female workers.
NWC was part of a "call to action" by Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) Danielle Stone to create safer, more inclusive workplaces.
Alison Farr, crime manager at the Northamptonshire Business Crime Partnership Ltd, said it was essential everyone was "treated with respect and feels safe".
Northamptonshire OPFCCFarr said: "We were delighted to sign up to the NWC as it is essential that we all create safe working environments."
Stone, a Labour PFCC, said the NWC signatories wanted "to play an active part in improving safety for women and girls".
"Reaching 42 organisations is an important milestone, but this is only the beginning.
"I encourage more employers to join us, use the free tools on offer, and help shape a county where women's safety is treated as everyone's responsibility."
Northamptonshire OPFCCShe said everyone would get specialist survey support, training packages, and information to help them respond effectively to women's safety concerns.
Other organisations that have signed up include Acorn Childcare UK, Brackmills BID, Changing Lives, Clubs for Young People, Daventry Town Council, Greatwell Homes, Kettering Town Council, London Northwestern Railway, Northampton BID, R&S Industrial Cleaning Equipment, the office of Mike Reader MP and the University of Northampton.
