Man seriously injured in light aircraft crash
BBC/Stuart WhincupA man has been seriously injured in a light aircraft crash in North Yorkshire.
The aircraft came down in the Masham area at about 12:20 GMT, according to police.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said the man had been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with what police described as "serious injuries".
He was believed to be the sole occupant of the plane, North Yorkshire Police said.
The Air Accident and Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed it had started an investigation into the crash.
"A multi-disciplinary team including inspectors with expertise in aircraft operations, engineering and recorded data have been deployed to gather evidence and make enquiries," a spokesperson said.
