Trams suspended and road closed due to police incident
BBCTram services were suspended and a busy road was closed both ways as police investigated an incident in Greater Manchester.
Metrolink tram services operating between Bury and Whitefield were suspended after police were called to investigate a welfare concern in Radcliffe, Transport for Greater Manchester said.
Church Street West, in Radcliffe, was also closed off in both directions from Deansgate to Rectory Lane as emergency services attended the scene.
It comes after police investigated a welfare concern on nearby East Street, which was reported at about 01:00 BST. A man has since been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, Greater Manchester Police said.
Ian Davies, network director for Metrolink, said: "We are currently supporting Greater Manchester Police who are responding to a concern for a person's welfare in Radcliffe.
"Due to the police incident, there are no services in operation between Bury and Whitefield."
