Lancashire Police have arrested a 39-year-old man

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found with stab wounds in a house.

The victim, in her 30s, was left in a critical condition after the attack in Warwick Street, Church, where Lancashire Police officers found her after 10:40 GMT.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 39-year-old man from Church was arrested and the investigation was continuing.

A police spokesman said it was being treated as an "isolated incident between people known to each other".

Officers have asked anyone with information to contact them.
