A 17-year-old motorcyclist who died after a crash has been described as good-natured in a family tribute.

Luke Payne, from Amersham in Buckinghamshire, died in hospital the morning after he was injured in a collision with a Nissan van and a truck on Gaddesden Row near Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire on 16 January.

His family said he was a thoughtful boy who enjoyed learning by working on mechanical projects.

They wrote: "We know the world in general will be worse off for not having that remarkable person in it, who would have given so many wonderful things to it and to the people in it."

"The measure of Luke's character has been demonstrated by the amount of support and comfort that has been provided to us over the past weeks," the tribute continued.

"Luke touched so many lives and hearts over the short time he was with us."

The motorbike and van were travelling towards Jockey End in the hamlet and the gas truck was coming in the opposite direction, police said.

Officers have previously urged any witnesses to contact them.
