Officers investigating an alleged racially and religiously-aggravated assault in a Walsall park have concluded it did not happen.

Officers carried out a thorough investigation after the report of an assault in Pleck Park on Friday, said West Midlands Police.

"We responded on the information provided at the time of reporting. We have been in close contact with the local community and continue to provide support," the force said.

It added it takes reports of hate crime very seriously and encouraged victims to continue to report them to police or to centres such as Crimestoppers, Stop Hate UK and True Vision.
