Turkeys killed after fire breaks out in barn
Cheshire Fire and Rescue ServiceA number of turkeys have been killed after a fire broke out in a shed at a farm, said firefighters.
Crews in nine fire engines were sent to the blaze in Peach Lane, Nantwich, shortly after 16:00 BST on Sunday, said Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The turkey shed was "significantly damaged by fire", said the service, adding firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using hose reel jets.
Crews used equipment to pierce the roof and spray "high quantities of water" inside the building.
Attendance at the scene was reduced to seven fire engines by 18:15, the service said in an update, but it expected crews to remain at the scene for some time.
