Dozens of firefighters have tackled a major blaze at a large detached property in East Yorkshire.

Multiple crews were involved after the fire at a property off Westfield Road in Eppleworth, near Cottingham, was reported at about 00:45 GMT, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said.

"Thankfully, there were no reported persons in the property at the time and no injuries reported," a spokesperson said.

Crews remained at the scene to ensure the blaze was fully extinguished and to prevent any potential reignition, they added.

The fire service said the fire was well established when crews arrived, adding that the roof, which was already unstable, collapsed during "firefighting operations".

In total, eight fire engines, one aerial ladder platform, a drone and two specialist vehicles attended, with 41 firefighters and officers involved.
