Man seriously injured after being hit by car

A 50-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Barnsley.

South Yorkshire Police responded to a collision between a white Ford Focus and a pedestrian on Sheffield Road, Worsbrough, around 21:56 GMT yesterday.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

Anyone who saw the incident or may have dashcam footage of the car travelling along Sheffield Road from the M1 towards Worsbrough, or a pedestrian wearing dark clothing in or around the Sheffield Road and Texaco petrol station, should come forward, the force added.
