A derelict warehouse is set to be knocked down to make way for dozens of flats.

Planning permission was granted to demolish Gleadells Wharf on Bridge Street in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, in 2023.

Bufield Developments, the company behind the scheme, has now submitted detailed plans to West Lindsey District Council to clear the site in preparation.

A six-storey building would be built in its place, with parking on the ground floor and 64 one and two-bedroom apartments on the upper floors.

According to planning documents, the brownfield site was in an area identified for redevelopment and regeneration, with the new building occupying "what is currently a derelict, open site on the river frontage".

The building is on the River Trent, close to the town centre.

All the flats would have outside space, with shared terraces on the fifth floor.

Other former warehouses along the waterfront have already been converted into apartments.

Previous plans for 43 flats on the Gleadells Wharf site were approved in 2006 but never came to fruition, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
