Leaders of a luxury wedding venue have lost a planning battle to allow brass instruments to be played within the manor's 450-acre grounds.

Chiefs at Euridge Manor in Colerne, which is owned by the founder of fashion chain Jigsaw, John Robinson, claimed Wiltshire Council's planning conditions were "unreasonable" and "inconsistent".

Residents living close to the Cotswolds estate, which has hosted weddings for comedian Jack Whitehall and Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson, complained about traffic and noise levels.

The council then imposed strict planning conditions for the site, which were appealed by the venue's leaders. But a planning inspector has now upheld the council's decision.

Although weddings have been hosted at the manor since 2015, a planning application to hold events was only retrospectively submitted in 2021.

Following a number of adjustments, planning permission was finally granted in May 2025, with strict conditions around traffic and noise.

The venue's leaders then appealed against some of the conditions, including banning brass instruments being played in the grounds.

But a planning inspector has dismissed the appeal, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The upheld conditions also mean that guests are not allowed to climb the Tump, a hillock from which noise has previously carried into the nearby village, and doors leading to the grounds from the ballroom and the orangery must be fitted with self-closing mechanisms.

During the planning row, venue leaders said weddings contributed about £2m a year to the local economy by supporting suppliers, taxis and nearby hotels.
