A motorcyclist has died after being involved in a three-vehicle crash in the Scottish Borders.

The collision took place at about 12:40 on Saturday on the A72 near Innerleithen and involved a black Yamaha YBR 125 motorbike, a grey Citroen C4 Picasso and a yellow Citroen DS3.

The 53-year-old biker was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

Police closed the road for eight hours and have launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Sgt Dave Waddell said enquiries are ongoing but anyone who witnessed the crash should get in touch.

He said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

"We would like to thank the members of the public who assisted at the scene of the crash."

Officers have appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
