The first evening group of Enable Jersey's Voice sessions is due to take place on 5 February

A Jersey charity says it wants more disabled islanders to have their voices heard as it launches a new set of evening discussion groups.

It follows the success of Enable Jersey's daytime Voice sessions, where people talk openly about the barriers they face in everyday life including problems with benefits, access to buildings and healthcare.

The charity is due to launch evening sessions for the project on 5 February at Osprey House in St Helier, with people invited to come at 17:30 GMT before the main part of the event begins at 18:00.

Suzanne Day, support services manager at Enable Jersey, said the sessions were about "working together" to find ways of overcoming issues.

"It is also about connection, meeting others, having a chat and knowing you are not alone," Day said.

"After the success of our daytime sessions, we are really pleased to be launching an evening group so more people can take part."

She said the Voice sessions had already helped shape major discussions across the island.

This included work on assisted dying proposals, reforms to the government complaints process, travel accessibility with LibertyBus, and Easy Read guidance for the States Assembly.
