Multiple arrests in county lines drugs crackdown
Cambridgeshire PoliceMultiple people have been arrested after class A and B drugs worth thousands of pounds were seized as part of a crackdown on county lines.
Cambridgeshire Police said it executed 12 warrants across Peterborough, Cambridge and Huntingdon last week, with 32 arrests being made.
Weapons including samurai swords, knives, machetes, firearms and a taser were also found and seized, along with cash and designer goods.
Det Insp Shish Thind said: "County lines is an abhorrent crime which devastates communities and causes long-lasting harm to vulnerable people who are exploited for criminal gain."
Cambridgeshire PoliceA number of potential "cuckooing" addresses, where drug dealers take over the home of a vulnerable person in order to use it as a base for dealing, were also visited.
Three people have been charged with drug offences and the remaining suspects released on bail.
The action was part of County Lines Intensification Week, led by the National Police Chiefs' Council.
Activity took place across the country between 2 and 8 March as part of a co-ordinated effort to disrupt organised crime groups and county lines drug dealing.
Det Insp Thind said: "This week of action was an important part of our ongoing work to combat the issue in Cambridgeshire and protect the vulnerable people being targeted by gangs.
"We will continue to work relentlessly to disrupt organised crime groups and bring drug dealers before the courts."
