Ex-police trainee charged over victim relationship
BBCA former student police officer has been charged with misconduct in a public office over allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a female crime victim.
Robert Veza, 44, was formerly a police constable for a neighbourhood team in Sheffield. He was in his probation period when he resigned from the force in January, South Yorkshire Police said.
Veza will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Monday.
An internal misconduct investigation is being carried out alongside the criminal proceedings, the force said.
Det Con Gary Godwin said: "We understand how concerning an allegation like this must be to our communities.
"We remain committed to being as open and transparent as possible about the professional standards of South Yorkshire Police, to give the public confidence that when reports of this nature come to light, they are dealt with appropriately."
