Drivers faced rush-hour delays after a lorry fire on the M6 in the West Midlands.

The vehicle caught fire on the southbound carriageway between junctions six for Birmingham and five for Castle Bromwich on Friday morning, National Highways said.

Two lanes were closed while firefighters worked at the scene, according to a post by the organisation on X, and highways officers assisted with traffic management.

Traffic monitoring firm Inrix said there was also congestion on the northbound carriageway between the two junctions.

Shortly after 08:30 GMT, National Highways reported all lanes had been reopened and Inrix said traffic had returned to normal.
