Customers have complained about parking in the past

A train station car park will get new signs and repainted spaces following customer complaints.

Long Buckby station, near Daventry, Northamptonshire, has parking areas run by separate operators Saba and Total Parking Solutions (TPS).

Motorists had previously been issued tickets despite believing they had paid the correct charge for the correct site, and said parking apps and signage needed to be made clearer.

On Tuesday, Conservative MP for Daventry, Stuart Andrew, said: "I'm really pleased that West Midlands Trains has now confirmed the Saba-operated spaces will soon be re-lined in green, with clearer signs and messaging to follow."

The parking operators were contacted for comment.

The 29-spaced car park is run by Saba, with TPS managing the 200-spaced site.

In the past, customers who searched online to pay for parking were usually directed to the smaller site and did not realise this would not allow them to park in the larger area. Some motorists would then receive a parking charge notice (PCN).

It is not known if the TPS site would also get new signage.

Speaking about the changes to the Saba site, Andrew added: "A simple but important step forward that should help stop drivers being unfairly caught out when they are simply trying to pay for parking."

The parking charge issue was first highlighted by BBC Online in March 2024, when TPS said its aim was "absolute clarity for motorists always".
