Investigation as man dies after canal rescue
BBCAn investigation is under way after a man died following his rescue from a canal.
Emergency services were called to Hardingswood Road, Kidsgrove around 07:30 GMT, after reports of a sudden death.
The man was removed from the water by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Staffordshire Police said it was treating the death as unexplained, and urged anyone with information to call 101.

The man's next of kin have been informed, with formal identification set to take place in due course, the force added.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) were also called to the scene, where a paramedic found the victim had been rescued by firefighters.
However, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead, WMAS said.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said it sent three crews and a water rescue unit to pull the man from the canal.
