Elderly couple found dead after suspected gas leak

A married couple died in a suspected gas leak at a house in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police said it was called at 10:10 GMT on Friday to reports a couple had been found unconscious following the suspected gas leak at a house in The Spinney in Ilkeston.

Officers said the couple - an 89-year-old man and 90-year-old woman - were pronounced dead by the ambulance service.

The force added a file was being prepared for the coroner and further inquiries were ongoing into the circumstances.
