Brothers jailed after gun and sword found at house
North Yorkshire PoliceTwo brothers have been jailed after a handgun and a samurai-style sword were found at a house in Harrogate.
Police raided the property on 11 October 2024, where live and spent rounds were discovered around an outbuilding.
The gun, which was originally blank-firing, had been modified as an illegal firearm and a bag of cannabis was also found.
Robbie Nelson, 27, and Charlie Roy Nelson, 31, both admitted possession of a firearm and were each sentenced to five years in prison at York Crown Court.
North Yorkshire PoliceThe brothers were identified as suspects after DNA analysis was carried out on the handgun.
Charlie Roy Nelson, of Woodfield View, Harrogate, was arrested at the location and was charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition for a firearm, an offensive weapon, and Class B drugs.
He was jailed on 16 May 2025 at York Crown Court.
His brother Robbie Nelson, of Woodfield View, Harrogate, was in prison at the time of the warrant and was sentenced on Friday at the same court.
Speaking after both men were sentenced, DC Amy Webster Gonzalez said: "Thankfully, gun crime is extremely rare in our area – but we will never be complacent.
"These convictions show that we will do everything we can to take illegal weapons off the streets."
