Automatic voting registration system goes live
PA MediaA new system will automatically enlist eligible islanders to the electoral register.
Vote.je said the new system would use existing Government of Jersey data to register islanders aged 16 who are eligible to vote
Jersey's next election, on Sunday 7 June, will result in a new group of politicians voted into government.
Vote.je said its automatic voting registration (AVR) meant islanders no longer had to manually register to vote and would reduce financial costs and administrative burdens on parishes.
Deputy Steve Ahier, chair of the Privileges and Procedures Committee, said the introduction of AVR marked "an important step forward for Jersey".
He said: "At a time when many other jurisdictions are still working towards similar reforms, we are leading the way.
"This modernisation of our electoral system will make it simpler and more convenient for islanders to access their right to vote."
The company said islanders could check if they were automatically registered by calling their parish.
