A number of schools and dozens of properties that were without water due to a burst pipe have now been reconnected, the supplier says.

Warden Hill Primary School, Bettridge School, Dean Close School, and Cheltenham Bournside School, all based in Cheltenham, have closed due to the incident.

A burst pipe on Shelburne Road in the St Mark's area needed emergency repairs, Severn Trent said.

All local properties and three of the four schools have now had their water supply restored, the company added.

Severn Trent chiefs apologised for the inconvenience earlier, saying the team "had found the repair to be a lot more complicated than first anticipated".

Properties were cut off for more than two hours, but at about 11:30 GMT Severn Trent said water had been restored to almost everyone.

"Everyone has now had their water restored, other than one school which we are looking to get back on supply as soon as possible as we complete the repairs," a Severn Trent spokesman said.

"We have been liaising with the schools to keep them updated and want to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

They did not confirm which school was still without water.
