Maisy the 'stood-up' Staffy finds her forever home
RSPCA Suffolk CentralAn abandoned dog who was stood-up at a speed dating-style event designed to introduce her to potential new owners has finally found her forever home.
Maisy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, was taken in a couple of months ago by the RSPCA's Suffolk Central branch, which has since struggled to rehome her.
In the hope of finding the seven-year-old a new family, staff at the Martlesham-based centre arranged for her to meet four prospective owners – but they did not turn up.
On Friday, Maisy was driven off into the sunset after being adopted by a dog lover with a "soft spot for brindle Staffs" and a "lovely big garden" for her to play in.
Known only as Mr Gordon, he said: "I was first drawn to Maisy as I was looking for a Staffy anyway, and then I saw the article about her being stood up.
"She came over and jumped up for a lick as soon as we met and she's just such a sweetheart with everyone she meets - as far as I have seen."
RSPCA Suffolk CentralMaisy, who was recently put on a weight-loss programme, was described as having a "cheerful personality" and "incredible love" for people.
Senior kennel assistant Lucy Calver said she would miss Maisy's "little wiggly body" but "couldn't be happier for her".
"It's a bittersweet moment for us because she isn't going to be here, but that's for a great reason," she added.
"She is going to be happy, and that's what we are here for - that's what we want for every one of our animals that comes through the door."
