A 74-year-old woman has died after she was hit by another vehicle while loading shopping into her car.

Hertfordshire Police said the collision took place at about 10:30 GMT on Monday at Thorley Neighbourhood Centre, a retail park in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.

After the crash the injured woman was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where she later died.

A 65-year-old woman is assisting police with inquiries, officers said.

The shopping area is home to restaurants, coffee shops and a Sainsbury's supermarket.

Officers said the reasons as to why the red Suzuki swift collided with the 74-year-old's red Ford Fiesta was "not yet known".

Those who were in the car park during the incident have been asked to contact police, especially if they have dashcam footage from the time of the collision.
