A man has been arrested after an elderly woman died in a two-vehicle crash.

Emergency services were called to Gloucester Road in Standish, near Stonehouse, shortly before 13:00 BST, to reports of a collision.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed a 79-year-old woman from Gloucester, who was driving a Nissan, died at the scene. A 34-year-old man, also from Gloucester, who was driving a Vauxhall, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He was taken into custody but has been released on unconditional bail. Anyone who witnessed the collision has been asked to contact police.
