Plans for park upgrade given go ahead
Government of JerseyPlans to transform a playing field by adding sand dunes, a cycling pump track and nature play area have been given the go ahead.
The improvements to Coronation Park Playing Fields, in St Lawrence in Jersey are set to be completed this summer.
The project will include improved pedestrian access, native trees and planting, sand‑dune landscaping, a sensory garden and seating areas.
The government said the approval allowed them to "unlock an important piece of public open space".
The Channel Islands' first purpose‑built pump track will also form part of the approved plans, offering a free cycling facility for children.
A pump track is a looped track made up of bumps and banked turns, designed to be used without the need for pedalling.
Velosolutions, the designer of the track, said: "We're thrilled to be part of this project.
"It's a beautiful location and the addition of the pump track to Coronation Park will be a great attraction for locals and visitors alike.
"Jersey is well known for being a great cycling destination and this new pump track will add another dimension to the bike infrastructure available on the island."
