Hundreds of people scrambled to buy tickets that could be only bought in person for a surprise Foo Fighters gig that sold out within two hours.

The US rock band led by Dave Grohl announced a series of live shows in Manchester, Dublin and London earlier.

The band will play the 02 Ritz in Manchester on Friday, and a queue of fans stretched down Whitworth Street to the Palace Theatre when the tickets went on sale at 12:00 GMT.

Fans were able to buy tickets on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of two tickets each.
