Six crews from across Essex were called to the fire at outbuildings on Scraley Road, near Great Totham

Fire crews have worked through the night at the scene of a large blaze at agricultural workshops.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Scraley Road in Great Totham at 23:10 BST on Sunday, where outbuildings measuring 60m by 20m (197ft by 66ft) containing vehicles and cylinders were alight.

Six crews were sent and "worked really hard to surround the fire and stop it from spreading", station manager Scott Fretton said.

An investigation is to be carried out to discover what caused the fire.

Fretton said the crews from Maldon, Chelmsford, Tiptree, Colchester, Witham and Great Baddow had "worked through the night to extinguish the fire, replaced by relief crews at around 03:00".

"We have scaled down the incident to two crews who will continue to dampen down and check for hotspots," he added.

The fire service did not report any injuries.
