Several vehicles and a home caught fire in a possible arson attack, police say.

At about 22:30 GMT on Wednesday, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and Surrey Police were called to Rusper Road in Capel due to a report of arson.

Surrey Police said multiple vehicles were alight and it spread to a residential property. The force also received a report of an assault at the address.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service sent 10 fire engines and two water carriers to the scene. It believes the blaze started at the home and spread to other nearby buildings and vehicles before crews began leaving at about 01:40.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire and the person who was allegedly assaulted was treated at the scene, police said.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Surrey Police.
