A motorcyclist in his 50s has died following a crash between his bike and a Toyota Yaris car.

Bedfordshire Police said it happened in Dunstable Road, Caddington, at about 18:30 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of the black Yaris, a man in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

The force said emergency services attended but the rider of the silver Yamaha R1M was pronounced dead shortly after.

Det Con Felicity Walker, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this sad time.

"We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage to get in touch as any information may be able to assist our inquiries into the circumstances around this tragic collision."
