An on-demand bus service is being extended to cover a new area in Surrey.

From 16 February, residents in Elmbridge will be able to use the Surrey Connect service if a local bus service is not available.

The expansion is funded by Surrey County Council (SCC) to improve access to sustainable travel in areas of the county where there are fewer bus services.

Surrey Connect is already operating in areas including Tandridge, Farnham, Cranleigh, West Guildford, Longcross, Runnymede, Haslemere, Mole Valley and Reigate.

Buses run on weekdays between 07:00 and 19:00, and on the weekend between 08:00 and 18:00.

Journeys can be booked with 30 minutes notice or up to seven days in advance.

Fares are charged based on how many miles are travelled starting from £2 for adults.

The service had more than 97,000 passengers in 2025.

Matt Furniss, SCC's cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and economy, said: "This expansion is part of our significant investment in bus travel and our efforts to encourage more people to use Surrey's buses. "

The council is putting £32.3m towards more ultra-low and zero emission buses and is using £6.3m for more ultra-low and zero emission community transport minibuses.
