Driver arrested after motorcyclist killed in crash

A man has been arrested after a motorbike rider died in a collision at an A-road junction.

Police were called to the A1001 South Way in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, at 15:12 BST on Wednesday after a white Yamaha motorbike and a black Lexus crashed at the junction with Bishops Rise.

The motorbike rider, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 50-year-old man from Pinner, north London, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was taken into custody and has since been released pending further inquiries.

Hertfordshire Police said his next of kin had been informed.

Det Con Neil Crosier, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this very sad time.

"We are appealing for witnesses as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

"If you have any information or dashcam footage, please report it."
