People in a village on the Isle of Man have been warned to shut their windows and close their doors after a fire at an industrial estate.

The blaze broke out in a site behind Kaneen's Garage on the main road through Union Mills on a building bearing a sign that reads 'fragile asbestos'.

A large Isle of Man Fire and Rescue service presence has been in the area while the fire has been brought under control.

The footpath along the heritage railway line has been closed while teams work on the fire, and traffic has been directed on the main road, where water is being pumped from a manhole in the centre of the road.

It is currently unknown what started the fire, or whether anyone was in the building.

The island's fire service has been contacted for more information.
