Dog rescued after falling 15ft down a mine shaft

The dog was rescued after falling down a mine shaft

A dog had to be rescued after falling 15ft (4.6m) down a mine shaft.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) was called to the incident at Red Dell in the Lake District at about 11:50 GMT on Saturday.

A rope system was set up which allowed the dog to be placed in a harness and brought up to safety.

CMRT said the dog was uninjured and "very happy to be reunited with his owner".
