A man believed to be in his 30s has been shot in the leg in an early morning attack, police have said.

The incident happened at about 07:20 GMT on Boode Croft in Stockbridge Village, said Merseyside Police.

A force spokesman said the victim had been taken to hospital. No details about the extent or severity of his injuries have been released.

Officers have put a cordon in place around the scene. The investigation will include examining any CCTV footage from the area, as well as house-to-house inquiries.
