Driver dies and three injured in two-car crash

A man has died and three others were injured in a two-car crash.

It happened on the A68 near Heighington, County Durham, at about 18:25 GMT on Friday, Durham Police said.

The crash involved a Vauxhall Astra and a VW Passat and the driver of the Astra, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men and a woman, who were travelling in the VW Passatt, were also seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The A68 was closed while collision investigators worked at the scene but later reopened.

Officers want to speak to anyone who witnessed or has relevant dashcam footage.
