Watch: Firefighters save upside-down horse from ditch

Fire crews used a digger and straps to free Ghara

A horse that was found stuck upside-down in a ditch has been saved by fire crews.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called at 14:00 GMT on Sunday to help Ghara, a 20-year-old mare, after she got trapped near Totton.

Fire crews used a digger and straps to free the 17-hand-tall (1.73m) animal.

Animal tactical adviser Jim Green said: "I'd like to thank everyone who worked so hard into the evening to bring about a successful outcome, including the vets and a local agricultural contractor, who offered their services."
