Man dies after being hit by vehicle on motorway in early hours

A man has died after he was hit by a vehicle on a motorway.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the M80 at Denny, near Falkirk, at about 00:20.

The 44-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

The road was closed in both directions between junctions 8 and 9 at Sclandersburn Road overbridge, but fully reopened at 16:10.

A diversion was put in place while officers carried out an investigation into the incident.

There are currently no details of how many vehicles were involved in the incident.

Sgt Michael Shillington said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time."

He urged anyone with information to contact police.
