Pedestrian in critical condition after crash

A man is in a critical condition in hospital and another man has been arrested after a crash near Halifax.

The 69-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a white Audi A3 at 09:37 GMT on Ovenden Way at the junction with Athol Gardens.

The 30-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

West Yorkshire Police urged any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle travelling from Halifax to Illingworth to contact them.
