City festival promises 'light, play and discovery'
Limbic CinemaSpectacular light trails, illuminated landmarks, interactive digital works and sensory experiences are featured in a three-day festival in Lincoln, which starts later.
Frequency, which runs until Saturday, will see some of the city's streets and buildings transformed by local, national and international artists.
Organisers say the eighth festival will "transform Lincoln's historic streets, with three nights of light, play and discovery".
Most of the events will be free and will run between 17:30 and 21:30 GMT.
Landmarks including the cathedral and the castle will be transformed after dark, while the Cornhill, City Square and High Street are among other places where artists will be working their magic.
Electric EggOne of the highlights is The FlightPaths Trail, by Electric Egg, which is an audio-visual experience focusing on the crucial role Lincolnshire played during World War Two. A guide to the trail is available from Barbican Creative Hub, opposite the railway station.
Sam Lindley, of festival producers Threshold Studios, said: "This edition of the festival will provide a genuine city-wide spectacle to brighten the winter nights and will showcase some fantastic interactive artworks and installations from across the UK as well as experiences created just for Frequency."
She added: "It is also a proud celebration of Lincolnshire – with digital installations highlighting its military heritage, its unique coastline and even the viral 2025 moment where a fox and an otter formed an unlikely alliance to explore the city's streets after dark."
The full programme of events is available online.
