The attack happened on Dudley Street on Wednesday just before 19:25 GMT, police said

A man has been left seriously injured after being attacked in Wolverhampton's city centre.

The man, in his 60s, was found on Dudley Street just before 19:25 GMT on Wednesday and he was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition, police said.

A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding a short while later and remained in custody.

The area remains cordoned off on Thursday and businesses were thanked for their patience by a police spokesperson.
