Funeral services are being held at new locations while work continues to get a crematorium back up and running after a fire.

People reported seeing smoke coming from Thorncliffe Crematorium on Devonshire Road in Barrow, Cumbria, during the evening on Thursday 26 March.

The building's roof was damaged and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was being treated as accidental.

A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness Council said all services booked until 14 April will be relocated while work is carried out to assess the full extent of the damage.

They said funeral directors will only be able to make plans beyond 14 April once the building has been evaluated.
