Arrest after pedestrian dies in car crash

A woman has been arrested over the death of a man who was hit by a car in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire Police has said.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Welcome Hotel, on Warwick Road before 20:00 GMT on Thursday.

A pedestrian in his 50s, was found in a critical condition and died at the scene.

A 23-year-old woman, who was driving a white Mini Cooper, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in police custody, police said.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance went to the scene, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Police have launched an appeal for any witnesses to the crash to come forward and help with their investigations.
