An industrial building has suffered "significant" damage during a blaze that closed a main road near Norwich.

Fire crews were called to the site off Salhouse Road, Sprowston, at 10:15 GMT.

At its height, 70 firefighters and 15 appliances were at the scene, with people asked to keep away from the area between Falcon Road East and Blue Boar Lane.

Incident commander Paul Seaman said he expected the response to be scaled back to about four fire engines during the afternoon, and they would remain at the scene for several hours.

He was unable to confirm any details of the building, but he said it had been significantly damaged. No-one was injured.

A warning to people nearby to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke would remain in place for some time, he added.
