Melanie C to perform church gig on new album tour

A former Spice Girl is set to perform at a church in Cheshire as part of her new album launch.

Melanie Chisolm, best known as Melanie C, will perform at St Mary's Church, Nantwich, on 27 April.

The gig is being organised by local independent shop Applestump Records, which also recently arranged a record signing with Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Tickets went on sale at 10:00 GMT on Friday and sold out within hours.

Her new solo album, Sweat, is described as a love letter to the "heady and formative days" of the 1990s.

It is billed as "an invitation to party, to find community on the dance floor and joy in a dark world."

Applestump Records said their gigs offered a chance for fans to see their favourite artists perform at smaller-scale shows.

They have previously provided a more intimate setting – including acoustic sets, stripped back performances or those which were shorter than a full-length gig.
