Work starts to fit canopy on £10m transport hub
Herefordshire CouncilWork to install a central canopy at Hereford's new £10m transport hub is under way.
A crane was on site to assist with the canopy's installation, with the wider project set to be completed by August this year, Herefordshire Council said.
The hub forms part of the wider "Improving Transport in Hereford programme", which is backed by a £20.5m investment from the government's Levelling Up Fund.
Once completed, the council said the project would create a "new gateway to Hereford, offering an attractive and welcoming arrival point for people coming to explore the city and the wider county".
The structure has been designed to "complement the historic character of the station and the surrounding area", a council spokesperson said.
Councillor Philip Price, the council's cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said: "This is a milestone for a project that will significantly improve how people arrive in and move around Hereford.
"The Transport Hub will create a more welcoming, accessible and sustainable gateway to the city, supporting public transport, active travel and the local economy, while respecting the historic setting of the station."
