More than 100 images of life under the ocean are set to go on display as part of a photography competition.

Winning pictures from the Ocean Photographer of the Year competition will be put on display at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent showcasing images from the 2025 awards.

Kaushiik Subramaniam, one of the finalists in this year's competition, said he felt like it was his duty to share the beauty of the sea with others.

Subramaniam, who shot an overhead image of whales around a boat in Mexico said: "I'm in a very fortunate position to be able to see those incredible moments."

He added: "It's really special for me to experience it and share it.

"This is a competition that is prestigious and something I was looking at for a number of years. It will be very special to see it [his work] in the flesh."

In total, 116 images will go on display at the exhibition, drawn from more than 15,000 entries.

While some of the images aim to highlight the beauty of the sea, others also look to show conservation work and the impact that environmental concerns are having on the oceans.

Jenny Stock, who was also a finalist in the Conservation (Hope) category for her image of anchovies in Indonesia, said: "It's so important that we look after this environment.

"The coral in Indonesia is so beautiful, they just glowed and the anchovies glittered in the sunlight.

"These photos can really demonstrate what we are trying to save."

The exhibition opens on Saturday, 28 March and runs until 31 August.
